At Forget Finance, we create personalised financial plan that manages your entire life. We put our customers' needs first, but also provide them valuable features, win their trust by sharing and showing the expertise & creating a community of like minded people.
One of the core-pillars for a healthy financial future is that users have an overall monthly savings rate. This means you earn X and in best case you can optimize your potential savings rate to 30%+ from that. This savings rate is afterwards being allocated to different goals (e.g. your rainy-day fund should be the first priority, then you invest into your “future” (investing), and short and midterm goals like consumption, vacation, sabbatical, etc.
How to onboard a new user in the app to understand this basic money-flow? It was a challenge I questioned myself considering the following dimensions:
- How do users set up their income and their savings rate? - How do they overview their savings rate allocated to different buckets / goals and change / adapt them?
As the first step, together with my team, we conducted a few user-Interviews to understand someone else’s feelings or thoughts in a situation of having a healthy financial life. By building deeper connections with users, we were able to better understand their perspectives and pain points.
I tested the new concept with potential users while sharing with them the prototype in Figma.
I do not understand what is the concept of this app.
I didn't feel quite picked up enough there to say "I'm definitely doing that now!
• Users like the UX flow and are able to complete it easily
• Many parts remind users of other apps (banking/investment, dating, etc.), which make it feel familiar and easy to understand
• The biggest blocker: users don't understand the value of our product (Lack of communication and visuals in teasers don't really explain it)
• It is unclear to users how fast they have access to their investments/ are able to adjust/pause a savings plan
