Challenges and Discoveries

First impression is the key to unlocking a seamless learning experience and continuous engagement with an app. In order to be closer with our users and people, who might be interested in our app, focused on cyclists and their safe trips, either commuting or adventurous ones, product team decided to take an action and organize multiply User Tests.

We conducted user testing session with a focus on addressing the needs of cyclists and their first impression while trying Bikemap app for the very first time. Together with data analysts we came up with several pain points:

- Low User Retention: Users are not fully engaging with the app after opening it. Hypothesis: "The lack of a seamless onboarding experience might be a contributing factor."

- Lack of User guidance: Users didn't receive any guidance during the onboarding process which led to confusion about how to use certain features or where to find essential information.

- 88.5% of our new users didn’t complete any registration process.

Welcome Experience

The objective of this project is to enhance the Bikemap app's onboarding process to improve user retention, increase user engagement, and encourage users to create comprehensive profiles. The new onboarding process should be intuitive, informative, and user-friendly, guiding users through the app's key features while encouraging them to explore and set preferences that align with their biking interests.

Welcome Experience is designed to ensure that users feel an immediate connection to the app and understand how it can enhance their cycling journey. This personalized onboarding process will ensure that every cyclist feels a deep connection to the app right from the start.

Watch App Redesign

The concept behind the redesign of the Bikemap Watch app for WatchOS 10 is to create a seamless and intuitive experience for cyclists, allowing them to access essential biking information directly from their Apple Watches. The new version will leverage the latest capabilities of WatchOS 10 to real-time data tracking, and integration with the Bikemap ecosystem. The redesigned app will focus on user-centric design principles, optimizing performance, and delivering a visually appealing interface to enrich the biking experience on the go.

Outcome

• Bikemap's personalized welcome experience not only made users feel at home in the app but also set the stage for an ongoing journey of exploration. From thrill-seekers to leisure riders, the app was ready to deliver an unforgettable cycling adventure designed exclusively for them. As a result it increased the engagement and the conversion to Trial from the first session since downloading the app.

• The successful collaboration with Apple's designers and developers on the project to redesign the Bikemap watch app resulted in significant improvements to the overall user experience. Through seamless teamwork, we were able to enhance functionality, streamline navigation, and optimize design elements for Apple Watch users. This overhaul not only elevated user satisfaction but also caught the attention of the Apple Store, prompting a featured placement and driving increased downloads and engagement.
